Seafood fact sheets may be on any topic of direct relevance to the Australian seafood industry and which is of interest or use to seafood industry stakeholders (including industry members, customers, service providers, training and education, governments, or the general public).
Format (internet and PDF)
Structure
- The Seafood Fact Sheet Template is for provided for guidance.
- Your fact sheet should be self-contained - do not assume the reader will be aware of other relevant documents or remember previous versions of the fact sheet.
- One page is best (two with graphics) and definitely do not exceed four A4 pages.
- Keep the text brief and concise and in reasonable size font - no one will read lots of small text.
- Use concise bullets points whenever possible.
- Use pictures, table and graphs to convey key information.
- Leave lots of white space.
Content
- Also refer to content suggestions in the content suggestions in the Seafood Fact Sheet Template
- Include the main message to be conveyed in each section in the first sentence of that section.
- Use references to validate views or opinions.
- Stick to concise, objective, relevant, validated and useful facts.
- Refer readers to additional information.
- Use links and hyperlinks to references and additional information when possible.
- Make it very clear how the reader may use the information.
- If you suggest that the reader take any particular actions, then give them the tools they need to take that action, e.g., contact details, where key additional information may be sourced.
- The language and content is to be acceptable for reading and viewing by the general public.
- (i.e., if the language and content would not be acceptable content: a good benchmark is that if the content would not be suitable for Content that is not suitable.
Application of these specifications
All fact sheets submitted for linking from the Seafood Fact Sheets website will be assessed for appropriateness and relevance against these specifications. Fact sheets that do not meet these specifications may not be approved for linking from the website.
