What is the SSA Network?

The SSA Network links people with the experience, skills and knowledge required to help the Australian seafood industry identify and realise its sustainable development opportunities. These include people from all sectors of the Australia seafood industry, government, and non-government organisations.

What are the Network’s goals?

  • to ‘scan the horizon’ for potential opportunities for sustainable seafood industry development

  • to facilitate consultation and communication across and between seafood industry participants, government and other stakeholders, on issues related to sustainable seafood industry development

  • to foster win/win alliances, partnerships, networks and collaboration with and between, individuals and organisations who can help identify, prioritise, capitalise on, resource, and influence the directions of investment and resources towards, sustainable seafood industry development.

Who drives the Network?

Seafood Services Australia (SSA) facilitates the Network, arranges meetings and provides administrative and communication support. The business and issues considered by the Network are determined by participants taking into account the seafood industry’s priority issues and opportunities for sustainable development.

SSA seeks the Network’s advice and input on initiatives and priorities for sustainable seafood industry development that are within the scope of SSA’s activities (for example, market failure issues related to seafood supply chain development, environmental management systems, seafood safety and quality and trade and market access).

Who does the Network report to?

SSA ensures the Network’s advice on particular issues is directed to the relevant industry and government organisations.

How can I participate?

Simply register with the Network today, its FREE. Go to the Network’s Registration page on this web site and follow the instructions.

Can I attend Network meetings?

Yes. The Network’s ‘open door’ policy encourages anyone with interests in the seafood industry to attend and participate. The Network hold three or four face-to-face are held each year in various locations around Australia. Go to the Network’s meeting page for details of meeting dates, venues, agendas and outcomes. You may also suggest items for discussion at future Network meetings.

Benefits of participating in the Network

As a registered Network participant you will:

  • have access to the Network’s web area, including the Network Contacts and Meetings pages

  • be included on the Network’s email distribution list and receive timely, accurate information about sustainable seafood industry development issues and opportunities

  • be eligible to have your contact details included in the Network’s contacts page and in SSA’s seafood portal

  • be eligible to participate in SSA Network meetings

  • have input into SSA’s initiatives relating to seafood supply chain development, environmental management, seafood safety and quality, seafood trade and market access
